Terms of use

Last updated: 28 September 2026

1. About Mboka Connect

Mboka Connect is a platform intended particularly for people who wish to connect with others, prepare a trip, find travel companions, discover accommodation and services, or publish listings relating to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo, also known as Congo-Brazzaville.

The platform includes profiles, listings, a community area, groups, messaging and travel planning tools.

The operator’s full identity and contact details are provided in the legal notice accessible from the application.

For any questions: contact@mbokaconnect.app

2. Purpose and acceptance of these terms

These terms set out the rules for accessing and using Mboka Connect.

You can read them before registering. Your acceptance is obtained through an explicit action, and the version accepted is recorded.

Purchases, subscriptions, promotions and paid bookings are also subject to the specific terms presented before confirmation.

The processing of personal data is explained in the privacy policy. Accepting these terms does not constitute consent to advertising or optional audience measurement.

3. Age and account creation

Accounts may only be created by people who are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity required to use the relevant services.

Children may accompany an adult on a trip or in accommodation where the provider’s conditions allow it. Their presence does not entitle them to a personal account or to search independently for travel companions.

You must provide accurate information and keep the information necessary for your account to operate up to date.

Impersonating another person or using multiple accounts to circumvent a suspension, quota or security rule is prohibited.

Anyone representing a business must be authorised to act on its behalf.

4. Account security

You must protect your sign-in credentials and must not share them with another person.

Professional teams must use authorised account management features where available, rather than share passwords.

Report any suspicious use promptly to contact@mbokaconnect.app.

Mboka may temporarily restrict certain features or request proportionate verification where a risk of account compromise or fraud is detected.

Mboka remains responsible for its own security obligations. Fraudulent use of an account is not automatically attributed to the account holder.

5. Respect for members

Interactions must remain respectful.

The following are prohibited, in particular:

  • Scams and misleading listings.
  • Threats, harassment and repeated unwanted contact.
  • Hateful or discriminatory statements.
  • Impersonation and falsified documents.
  • Unauthorised disclosure of private data.
  • Content that infringes other people’s rights.
  • Content involving sexual exploitation, particularly of minors.
  • Offers of goods or services prohibited by applicable regulations.
  • Spam, malware and attempts to gain unauthorised access.

Creating new accounts or using other members to circumvent a block is prohibited.

6. Profiles, content and copyright

You are responsible for the information and content you publish.

You must have the necessary rights or permissions to publish photographs, videos, text and documents. You must not present another person’s work as your own.

You retain your rights to your content.

You grant Mboka a non-exclusive licence, without remuneration, limited to the operations necessary to host, display, transmit, technically adapt and moderate your content as part of the service.

This licence respects the audience selected for the content. It does not allow Mboka to make a private conversation public or use your photograph in advertising outside the service without separate permission.

It ends when the content is deleted, subject to the technical timeframes and justified retention described in the privacy policy.

7. Listings and services

You may publish a listing only if you are authorised to offer the relevant property, goods or service.

The listing must clearly state:

  • The nature of the offer.
  • The identity or profile of the person publishing it.
  • Whether that person is acting as a private individual or a professional.
  • The price and any known mandatory charges.
  • Important characteristics, availability and restrictions.

Photographs and descriptions must reflect the actual offer. The listing must be updated promptly to reflect significant changes.

Professionals remain responsible for the authorisations, qualifications, insurance and obligations required for their activities.

Publishing a property or land listing does not prove ownership. Title documents and formalities must be checked with the relevant people or authorities before any commitment is made.

Mboka may request supporting documents and suspend a listing during a justified verification process.

8. Mboka’s role and bookings

Mboka provides a platform and connection service, as well as its own services where offered.

Hosts and service providers remain responsible for their offers and commitments. Registering with Mboka does not make them employees or representatives of Mboka.

Mboka’s role as an intermediary does not exclude its responsibility for its own obligations and breaches.

An exchange of messages, a connection request or an availability enquiry does not, by itself, constitute a confirmed booking.

Before making a paid booking, you must be able to review the provider’s identity, the details of the offer, the total price and the applicable rules.

Confirmation, payments, cancellations, refunds and payouts are governed by the booking terms presented before you commit.

An agreement or payment made outside Mboka’s booking and payment process does not automatically benefit from the platform’s tracking or refund features. You may nevertheless report fraudulent behaviour.

9. Free, Premium and Pro plans

Mboka offers a Free plan and, where available, Premium and Pro subscriptions.

Before you subscribe, a comparison table presents the price, benefits, limits, billing frequency, and renewal and cancellation rules.

A subscription provides access only to the benefits advertised. It does not guarantee a response from another member, a booking, a sale or professional verification.

Where a feature uses a quota, the application indicates:

  • What uses one unit.
  • The number of units available.
  • The calculation period.
  • The renewal date.
  • The consequences of changing plans.

Communications necessary for an ongoing booking, reporting abuse and exercising your rights must not be blocked by a connection quota.

Detailed financial rules are set out in the terms for paid services.

10. Badges and verification

Mboka distinguishes between the following badges:

“Pro subscriber”: this badge indicates an active Pro subscription. It does not prove identity, the existence of a business or the quality of a service.

“Identity verified”: this badge indicates that the requested identity documents have been reviewed according to Mboka’s procedure.

“Business verified”: this badge indicates that documents confirming the existence of the business and the representative’s connection to it have been checked according to the stated procedure.

The scope and date of the check can be accessed through the badge.

A self-declared business activity remains marked as unverified until the corresponding check has been completed.

No badge constitutes certification issued by a public authority, insurance or a guarantee against all fraud.

A subscription may provide priority processing if that benefit is advertised. It never allows anyone to purchase approval.

Mboka may request updated documents or remove a badge that is no longer accurate. The person concerned may request a review.

11. Connection requests and messaging

Each member chooses whether to accept or decline a connection request.

A subscription does not allow anyone to force a conversation, bypass a refusal or access another member’s private contact details.

Conversations that have already been accepted may continue after a change of plan, subject to blocking, security and moderation rules.

A user may block another member. Blocking prevents new private messages and connection requests between the two accounts.

In a shared group, some content may remain visible according to the stated functionality. Blocking does not automatically delete previous exchanges.

“Delete for me” removes the message from your own view. “Delete for everyone”, where offered, operates within the limits indicated in the application.

An ordinary member cannot delete another member’s messages.

The level of privacy of conversations, the limitations of encryption and retention periods are explained in the privacy policy.

12. Groups and pinned messages

Groups have identifiable rules and roles.

Administrators and moderators may manage members and content within their assigned permissions and Mboka’s rules.

An ordinary member cannot unpin or delete another person’s message.

The author retains the options available for managing their own message. Administrators, authorised moderators and the Mboka team may intervene for a legitimate management or moderation reason.

A pinned message remains subject to the platform’s rules. Pinning does not protect unlawful or abusive content from moderation.

A group’s own rules cannot authorise behaviour prohibited by Mboka.

13. Travel companions

The Travel companions area allows adults to find other travellers, particularly to prepare for a first trip or travel together.

You choose the information included in your travel plan and the people you contact. The audience for your plan is indicated before publication.

Each participant remains responsible for their own documents, tickets, travel formalities and travel decisions.

A companion met through Mboka is not automatically a professional travel escort, guide or representative of the platform.

No member may pressure another person to provide money, identity documents or private information.

Prefer an initial video call or a meeting in a public place. Avoid publishing your precise address, booking codes or copies of your documents.

A verification badge does not guarantee a companion’s reliability or future behaviour.

Paid travel accompaniment offers must be clearly identified as such and comply with the applicable obligations.

14. Travel assistant and flight search

The assistant is an artificial intelligence tool. Its responses may contain errors or incomplete information.

For entry requirements, visas, documents, health or safety matters, check the information with the relevant authorities or qualified professionals.

The assistant must not be presented as having made a booking, contacted someone or published content unless the corresponding action has been explicitly proposed and authorised.

Its usage limits and the processing of information submitted to it are explained before use.

Flight search results are indicative. Prices, schedules and availability may change until the ticket is purchased from the seller.

A request for a quote or callback does not constitute a booking. The partner responsible for the sale must be identified before the request is forwarded and before any payment.

15. Reviews and ratings

Reviews must reflect a genuine personal experience.

Fake reviews, purchased reviews, reviews posted under a false identity and pressure to obtain a favourable rating are prohibited.

A review associated with a completed booking is distinguished from feedback relating solely to an exchange of messages.

Simply sending a message to a service provider does not justify presenting a service as completed or verified.

The author may request that their review be corrected or removed. The professional concerned may respond and report content they consider abusive.

A negative review is not removed solely because it is unwelcome. Moderation decisions are based on the rules applicable to the content.

The criteria for publishing, checking and ranking reviews are accessible in the application.

16. Paid promotions and advertising

Listings benefiting from paid promotion are identified by a clear label, such as “Sponsored”.

Purchasing a promotion does not guarantee a number of views, connections, sales or bookings unless a specific commitment is expressly stated in the offer.

A sponsored listing remains subject to the same accuracy, security and moderation rules as other listings.

Prices, durations, placements and refund rules are presented in the offer’s terms before purchase.

17. Reporting and moderation

You may report a profile, listing, review, post or message using the relevant feature or by contacting support.

The report must identify the content concerned and explain the problem. Reports made in good faith must not result in retaliation.

A report does not automatically result in removal. The team reviews the available information and may request further details.

Depending on the severity, repetition and risk, Mboka may:

  • Issue a warning.
  • Request a correction.
  • Remove content.
  • Restrict a feature.
  • Temporarily suspend an account.
  • Close an account in the event of a serious or repeated breach.

Immediate action may be taken where necessary to address an urgent risk, fraud or clearly unlawful content.

The decision, its reasons and the available appeal options are communicated to the person concerned, unless a restriction is justified by law or security considerations.

Suspension does not mean that funds are automatically confiscated. Bookings, refunds and amounts owed are considered separately.

18. Challenging a decision

You may request a review of a decision by contacting contact@mbokaconnect.app.

Include the decision reference, your account details and any relevant information.

Mboka aims to respond within 15 calendar days. If the review requires more time, you will be kept informed of its progress.

Where possible, the review is assigned to someone other than the person who made the initial decision.

This internal procedure does not limit the legal remedies available to you.

19. Account closure

You may request closure of your account through its settings or by contacting support.

Before confirmation, the consequences for your posts, conversations, subscriptions and ongoing transactions are explained to you.

Closure stops the renewal of subscriptions managed by Mboka. If a purchase is managed through another billing channel, the applicable cancellation procedure must be clearly indicated and accessible.

Closing an account does not automatically cancel a booking, debt, refund request or obligation that has already arisen.

Data is deleted or retained according to the detailed rules in the privacy policy. Information needed to meet a legal obligation or handle a dispute may remain archived with restricted access.

Inactive accounts are handled according to the procedure and timeframes stated in that policy.

20. Availability and liability

Mboka endeavours to ensure that the service is available and operates properly. Interruptions may occur due to maintenance or incidents.

Users are informed of known disruptions affecting a paid service, and appropriate action is taken.

Mboka does not guarantee that another member will accept a request, that a listing will attract a customer or that a companion will be available.

Each user and service provider remains responsible for their own actions and commitments. These statements do not remove Mboka’s liability for its own breaches or users’ mandatory legal rights.

21. Changes to these terms

The version and effective date appear at the beginning of the published terms.

Significant changes are announced at least 30 days before they take effect. A shorter period may be necessary to meet a legal obligation or address a security emergency; the reason is then explained.

A change does not retrospectively alter the price or rules of a booking that has already been confirmed.

Where necessary, renewed acceptance is requested. Users can access and retain the terms applicable to their transactions.

22. Contact and complaints

For any question, difficulty or complaint: contact@mbokaconnect.app

Include your account details, the reference for the relevant transaction or content, and the relevant facts. Do not send passwords or full banking details.

The mediation arrangements applicable to paid services are set out in the corresponding terms.

These terms do not deprive users of the mandatory protections to which they are entitled. Available remedies and competent courts are determined by the applicable legal rules.
